 Welcome to Djmothra.com

June 20th, 12:36

This month marks 15 years(!) that I've been spinning in nightclubs and with Ceremony's 14th anniversary coming up in October, you know how long I've been promoting.

DJing has been a huge part of my life and a major aspect of who I am for a very, very long time. Like may things in life though, there is a time when priorities change and chips must be cashed; while you still have some. On the 28th of this month, I'll be spinning my last set in a nightclub. From 10pm to 11:30 I'll be saying goodbye to my life as a club DJ and promoter in the best way I can, on the decks.

I really hope that you can be there and you all understand that this isn't any kind of statement or symbolic gesture, it's simply my liberation from recurring time commitments so that I can live my life the way that will being me and my family the most satisfaction. Nobody is pregnant, nobody is moving, we'll still even come out from time to time.

James (DJ Static) will be the new master of Ceremony as of July 1st. I chose him not only because of his unwavering dedication to Ceremony EVERY week for so many years, but my confidence in his ability to maintain the quality and consistency of the event. I think you'll see his perspective and enthusiasm bring new life to an already exciting and unique event. I'm passing him a torch that I'm proud to say still burns ferociously bright after so many years.

Thank you all for sticking with me through the tough times, dancing to the good new stuff as well as the overplayed and bizarre and making the ceiling rain sweat when it all went right.

Thank you to the DJs who showed me all the different ways you can hobble awesome music together. Sometimes it was smooth, sometimes it was pure cacophony and most of the time it was the best fun I could have had. There are so many of you that I want to mention I'll put something together with all of your names in the very near future as a token of my continued respect.

Thank you to the Ceremony staff. You could not have been more dedicated or reliable over the years. You guys rock beyond measure and I couldn't have done it with out you. Some of you have moved on, but you'll always be a part of Ceremony's history.

Thank you to An Tua Nua that stood behind me when I pulled some wild stunts. You helped us clean up more jell-o and smashed peep than I care to remember. Thanks to all the other clubs too, even the ones that aren't around any more.

Finally, thank you to my wife for sticking with me through some lonely nights when I was keeping it all going.

The future is very bright right now. I'd like to think that my influence on the New England scene will linger for a long time to come and all the new DJs and promoters keep the momentum going and always play nice with the veterans that have given you some solid ground on which to stand.

As I said to DJ Znuh recently; when an old tree falls, the sun shines on fertile soil.

It's been one Hell of a ride.
